Reading hero badges
Every hero portrait carries two badges, and they belong to two different systems. Confusing them is the most common mistake in squad building, because it leads you to stack a role you already have.
Position tells you which system
The badge in the lower-left is coloured, and it marks the hero’s faction. The badge in the upper-left is grey, and it marks the hero’s class. Colour versus grey is the fastest tell at a glance.
| Badge | Position | System | Reads as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coloured | Lower-left | Faction | Warrior / Ranger / Warlock |
| Shield | Upper-left | Class | Tank |
| Potion | Upper-left | Class | Support |
| Swoosh | Upper-left | Class | Carry |
Why it matters
Faction affects pairing bonuses. Class affects what the hero actually does in a fight. A squad can be faction-aligned and still lose because it has three carries and nothing holding the front.
Check both badges before you invest. Levelling the wrong hero is the most expensive mistake available to you early on.
